wowie!!!
Already a month into the school year. Unbelievable! My students seem relatively bright and the colleagues somewhat competitive, although I can't believe how much I'm actually enjoying the small-town mentality. YIKES!!! Although I seriously have to re-think a lifelong structure of maximum gains with minimum effort since academia does kinda require it. HA! HA!
I also did a very poor job articulating why subversion, specifically the punk rock kind, simply cannot exist once subsumed and commodified, existing only in the mainstream. I mean, how can a movement still be considered subversive if everyone else hops on the proverbial bandwagon and starts doing the same!? Doesn't mass participation automatically normalize the subvertive elements of anything and everything? Hmmmmmmmm....have to try and navigate through this!!! :)
ANDDDDDDDDDD....Montreal this weekend. I can barely contain myself!!!
