SMH....

Yesterday, while discussing semiotics of television and film with my second-year undergraduate classes (both sections), I brought up the current Occupy Movements within the context of legitimate news and information sources. Now, the majority of this group is comprised of COMMUNICATION, CULTURE, and INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY students. To my amazement, approximately 1/3 of them had absolutely no idea what I was referring to. They had neither heard of or knew anything about (probably) THE most radical social movement in years! Yes, folks, this goes WAY beyond apathy and boredom!!! *SMH*
